After an almost full week of not feeling like myself, this weekend I woke up a new woman. Almost all of my side effects were gone and for the first time in a week I felt great! I got lots of things accomplished over the weekend (even made dinner last night and did some shopping on my own) since I was feeling a-ok. Now I’m justĀ gearing myself up mentally for my next treatment session this coming Friday.
I still have my hair, but expect it to fall out sometime next weekend (usually around 14 days after chemo begins). I also had a medi-port put in under my skin on Thursday. A medi-port is a device consisting of a catheter attached to a small reservoir, which is implanted beneath the skin in the arm or chest. The port is used mainly when I.V. access is needed only intermittently over a long period of time, as in patients who require chemotherapy. In other words, they didn’t want to keep poking me in the same vein over and over again, hence the medi-port. It’s covered up in bandages right now and feels a bit funny, but nothing I can’t get used to. It will be taken out sometime when I am finished with my treatment.

I’m glad that you’re feeling better and able to do somethings on your own. You’ve been in my prayers.
Happy to hear that things are going well so far! Keeping you in my thoughts this holiday season, and hoping that you have a good one with your little ones.
I’ll bet it feels good to feel good. That independence is such a big thing! Glad you’re able to get out and about.
My brother had a port-cath (or medi-port) early on. He had his chemo administered through it 24/7 for a while. I think he switched to pills after that. Can’t remember!
Here’s to a good week ahead. Enjoy the Christmas season with those adorable little girls. They really do make the season a joyous one, don’t they?
